Highs in the 80s for second half of the week, another cold front on Friday - KVUE.com

AUSTIN, Texas — After several days of near-record-high temperatures across Central Texas, a cold front has brought in a noticeably cooler air mass to finish the week.

This will not mean drastic changes, but afternoon highs will drop to the 80s Wednesday through Friday, and a second cold front on Friday will bring in another round of more comfortable air for the upcoming weekend.

The difference will be felt during the afternoons and mornings. With a northerly breeze and clearing sky, some locations across the Hill Country will drop into the 50s on Wednesday morning. Expect upper 50s and low 60s along and east of the Interstate 35 corridor.

After a pleasant morning, Wednesday afternoon also looks nice, with highs much closer to average for this time of the year.

Wednesday afternoon will feature sunshine and afternoon highs in the low to mid-80s with the wind still northeast at about 5 mph to 10 mph.

Thursday will then trend a bit warmer, but the weather remains noticeably cooler than recent trends.

The breeze will pick back up out of the south by Thursday afternoon, resulting in a few more clouds and afternoon highs in the mid- to upper 80s.

The southerly wind shift will take place ahead of our next cold front, which arrives on Friday. In similar fashion to the first cold front of the week, moisture appears to be fairly limited with this system.

For now, expect just widely scattered showers and storms for Friday through early Saturday morning, then drier weather by Saturday afternoon.

The air mass behind this front will bring in some very nice weather for Saturday afternoon and Sunday.

For Saturday expect highs below average in the upper 70s, and then low 80s for Sunday with dry weather and sunshine.
