The best place to purchase a copy of Kaspersky Anti-Virus is from Kaspersky itself. However, you can often find deals through other vendors. The trick is finding a trustworthy one, so you don't accidentally purchase and download malware instead of a legitimate copy of Kaspersky. Here a…

Document tab on windows explorer keeps popping up after trojan - Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Help - BleepingComputer

**I was told to post this here**

This could be a long one depending on how well I'm able able to tell this, so bare with me.

I'm relatively good with computers (hardware-wise), build my own, etc... Pretty savvy with not getting caught by stuff, but this time they got me good. Long story short a small online retailer that I've bought stuff on before must've gotten compromised so I got a reply to an email I had sent before with an attachment. I opened it and, voila. I realized within a couple of minutes what had happened. I ran malwarebytes, all sorts of scans and cleaned up a trojan.

The first lasting effect I had was a windows registry error that I kept getting, messed with HKEY stuff to no avail. Eventually I tracked down the file location for the error and deleted what I'm pretty sure were the remnants of the virus. After that, the registry errors stopped. Unfortunately, now my documents tab on windows explorer keeps popping up every 10 minutes or so. I've tried many tricks and things I've found online (turning off auto-run for drives, etc...) but none of them have worked and no one else really seems to have the same problem. I've done a couple windows 10 repair upgrades during this journey and they didn't help with any of the problems along the way. Steps recorder doesn't catch anything when it pops up either.

Any suggestions? I really don't know where else to go without doing a clean wipe/install, but I would rather not.

Thanks ahead of time.
