But these companies can't survive unless some users shell out their hard-earned cash for paid antivirus utilities. Piling on pro-only tools and components is one way companies encourage upgrading to a paid antivirus. Avira Antivirus Pro adds several components not available to users of Avira Free Security, but they don't really add much value. The biggest reason to pay for it is if you want to use Avira in a commercial setting, which isn't allowed with the free version.Avira's pricing is undeniably on the high side, with a list price of $59.88 per year for one license, $71.88 for three, and $95.88 for five. Admittedly, it seems to be perpetually on sale; just now, the one-license price is discounted to $44.99. That…

Thanks for helping me look into this.  Over the past couple days, my computer has given me some odd behavior.
TL;DR - Search engines automatically changed & PC crashed twice. Uninstalled some recently installed programs (one cracked), ran anti-virus, and got a hit (keygen, deleted). Ran again, no hits but Windows Defender is telling me it's skipping something and I don't know what.
- chrome address bar search engine changed from Google to Bing ~3 days ago
- chrome address bar search engine changed from Google to Yahoo today
     - both times, I changed it back. I have been testing some chrome extensions over the past couple days, some of which control search settings.  I have since disabled all of them.
- computer froze twice within 5 minutes today
     - froze while I was away from the computer, I only noticed because it happened to be playing music, which abruptly cut off
- automatically restarted during a windows defender scan
Steps I have taken:
1) ran rkill.exe, file attached
2) ran adwcleaner, no hits, no hits, basic repair, restart
3) ran rkill.exe again, results look the same as first time
4) ran JunkRemovalTool.exe, file attached
5) ran Windows Defender, quick scan, no hits, but it tells me an item was skipped, nothing listed as an exception
6) uninstalled recently installed vpn (Mullvad) [~a week ago]
7) uninstalled recently installed cracked program (Ableton) [~a week ago]
8) ran Windows Defender, full scan, was uninstalling old vpn (PrivateVPN) at the same time, computer restarted without prompt
9) completed uninstallation of PrivateVPN
10) ran rkill.exe again
11) ran Windows Defender, full scan, found a key generator for said cracked program, deleted, still tells me item skipped
12) ran Kapersky TDSSKiller, default settings, no hits
13) ran Malwarebytes Free, no hits, no allowed exceptions, deleted everything in quarantine
14) ran Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit, no hits
15) ran Windows Defender again, quick scan, no hits, but still item skipped
Why is is telling me that it's skipping something?
It looks.... like everything is fine... but is it?
My Computer Specs:
- Windows 10 Pro x64
- AMD Ryzen 5 2600, 3.4GHz
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980
- 16 GB Ram
